Happy Mother’s Day!!
What is the one word that new mothers can’t wait to hear their baby say? Is it Anya, 'eh, Mama? It all depends…
- Mama (English, Greek, Polish, Romanian, Slovak, Swahili, Swedish)
- Nana (Chechen)
- Mati (Croatian)
- Moeder (Dutch)
- Ma (Afrikaans, Hindi)
- Maman (French, Persian)
- Mutter (German)
- Madre (Spanish, Italian, Norwegian)
- 'eh (Mongolian)
- Anne (Turkish)
- Haha (Japanese)
- Anya (Hungarian)
- Ahm (Arabic)
- Abatyse (Czech)
This Mother’s Day, treat Mom to something special. Make Ilene’s Easy Fudge Sauce for her:
- 1 stick of butter
- 2 oz (2 squares) unsweetened baking chocolate
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 6 oz evaporated milk (not sweetened condensed)
- 1 tsp vanilla
Melt butter and chocolate over low heat in saucepan large enough to hold all ingredients. Add powdered sugar and milk and mix well. Increase heat to medium and cook, stirring constantly, until thick, about 8 minutes. Remove from heat and add 1 tsp vanilla. Cool and refrigerate for up to two months.
This sauce is phenomenal over ice cream and bananas, or use as a fondue sauce and dip strawberries, marshmallows, and cake into it for a yummy treat!
MS Office Crises!
Are you in pain from an MS Office upgrade experience? Or dreading making the change to either 2007 or 2010? Let us bring you some relief! We know from our students how frustrating it can be, and how many wasted hours they spend searching for features. “Where did that go?”
Recently, we set up a large MS Office upgrade training project in less than a week! Here is what Alan, who managed this project for The County of Santa Clara, had to say:
“The training that was provided was effective and successful as demonstrated by the lack of questions or concerns from our staff about not being able to find their way around 2010, which is pretty amazing considering how large our group was. Thanks again for your great service!”
Call us to set up your upgrade class so we can help you make the transition as painless as possible.

Memorial Day – A Tribute for Their Sacrifice
Memorial Day was first observed on May 30, 1868, three years after the end of the Civil War ended, by placing flowers on the graves of Union and Confederate soldiers during the first national celebration. Red Poppies are recognized as the Memorial Day Flower, and May 30th was originally chosen as the holiday because flowers would be in bloom all throughout the nation. Starting in 1971, the legal holiday was moved to the last Monday in May by the Uniform Holidays Act.
We have a wonderful program to support our Veterans and give back to those who have given so much. Please spread the word about our Welcome Back Veterans program, designed to help them re-enter the civilian workforce.
