This one-day class
examines the following functions and their application to real world
problems:
ABS, IF, VLOOKUP, SUMIF, COUNTIF, LEN, MOD, DATE, NOW, CHAR, CODE, AND, OR,
CELL, OFFSET, ISNUMBER, LOOKUP, MATCH, SMALL, LARGE, INDIRECT, INDEX and
SUBSTITUTE.
Other functions that will be used in support of the main functions include:
VALUE, LEFT, NOT, ISNA, FIND, MID, MAX, RIGHT, QUOTIENT, RANDBETWEEN, COUNTA,
MONTH, COLUMN, ADDRESS AVERAGE, N, ROW, COUNT, REPT |
This class will also demonstrate ways
to simplify formulas and the use of dynamic range names. We will work the
relationship of formula and various commands such as the Chart Wizard,
Data Validation, Conditional Formatting and Text to Columns. We will also
look at the use of mixed cell references, concatenation, and array
formulas. We will also examine the uses for, and methods of, tracing
formula dependents and precedents.
Among others, we will address such issues as how to count unique entries,
how to find duplicates, how to create charts that automatically extend
their plot range, how to sort Subtotaled lists (on their subtotals), how
to handle (cleaning up) imported data, and how to flag problems.
The student is encouraged to bring function related problems to class. |
